Tenderness with Titilope Sonuga & Melafrique

About
Co-presentation with Spruce Grove Public Library
Edmonton's Poet Laureate Titilope Sonuga brings her poetry of hope, healing and tenderness to the Horizon Stage. With a fusion of spoken word, jazz, Neo-soul and African rhythms, this National Poetry Month celebration is an invitation to lean into an expansive, magical world of poetry and music. Titilope Sonuga is a world-renowned poet and performer whose work grasps moments of tenderness and persistent joy at the intersection of blackness and womanhood. Sonuga has authored three award-winning collections of poetry, written three plays, and composed two spoken word albums. She will be accompanied by MelAfrique, a 6-piece Afro-fusion band whose genre-defying music has captivated audiences across the country.
