Join us on National Day for Truth and Reconciliation for an opportunity to learn about Canada’s history, engage in meaningful conversation, and hear from a local Elder. The evening will start with a musical performance by Alexis and Ted Wright. Afterwards, a screening of It Had to Be Done by Tessa Desnomie will be shared. This short documentary explores the legacy of residential schools through the eyes of two extraordinary women who not only lived it, but who, as adults, made the surprising decision to return to the school that had affected their lives so profoundly. This intimate and moving film affirms their strength and dignity in standing up and making a difference on their own terms. Tea, Bannock, and fruit-infused water will be served after the screening. Emotional Support will be available for the duration of the evening.
