About

Join us for this year’s National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. This is an evening of thought-provoking truth-telling and sharing to help us move forward together to right the wrongs inflicted upon Canada’s First People.

Together we will view Holy Angels, a short documentary featuring the late Lena Wandering Spirit of Alberta’s Fort Chipewyan, one of more than 150,000 Indigenous children sent to residential school. James Jenka, one of Skydancer Indigenous Cultural Centre’s resident Elders, attended this school with Lena, and will offer first-person testimony of his experience and insight into the residential school system. This film, created by Jay Cardinal Villeneuve, speaks of the resilience of a people who have found ways of healing – and of coming home again.

Once again, Alexis and Ted Wright will open the evening with music. Tea, bannock and fruit-infused water will be served to close the event.

Emotional Support will be available for the duration of the evening.
